La Jolla

Our big summer trip was back to the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.  It is one of our most favorite places, and on our trip we were reminded why.  The boys had such a good time, and couldn't wait every day to get out to the beach.

William was in love with this big red ball, and wanted to kick it around with anyone that would play with him.

We bought some squirt guns from the gift shop when we first arrived, and they became one of the big hits of the trip.  The boys would run out to the ocean and fill them up, and then run back to the sand to fill up a hole with the water they collected.  Back and forth they went.  It seemed like they would never get tired of it.

We also brought along some kites, remembering how windy it can be sometimes right by the sea.

William even gave it a try, and did a great job keeping the kite up.

The boys ran up and down the beach.  Our room was down at then end, on the far right of this picture.  It was so nice to walk out the door in the morning and step on the sand.

This is one of the few pictures that I actually made it in the shot.  William had pneumonia the week before we left for our trip, and I got the bug shortly before we left for our trip.  While there I developed a nasty sinus infection, so spent a good bit of the time hanging out on the chair watching the kids.  It was a nice place to rest.

On Friday night we had a barbecue on the beach with Ahma.

Elliott loved chasing the seagulls away from our food.

Every time he saw one he would take off running.

After dinner we had our traditional homemade marshmallow smores.  William loved his.

Elliott just wanted the marshmallow.

Eventually the boys worked up the courage to go jumping in the waves.  

They had such fun.

Then, they saw a sting ray swimming by their feet and that was the end of that.

On the last day they had some fun playing at the park, seeing the ducks, finding duck eggs, and looking for golf balls.

What a great way to start the summer!
