The Environmental Nature Center

William spent last week attending nature camp at the Environmental Nature Center.  He loved it!

He loved exploring in nature, learning about animals and nature.
He even got to do the camp with his cousins Ella and Steven, and his friend Lia which made it all the more fun.
He loved the solar oven he made, and couldn't wait to tell us all about the smores that he made in it.
He thought stamping with the fish stamp was pretty cool, and even go to make paper.
On the last day of camp the kids answered questions about nature and if they answered correctly they got to go up and choose a prize.
William raised his hand and answered correctly so he got to go up and choose.
He was super excited about the little radio he chose.  And couldn't wait to try it out after camp.
While William was busy at camp.  Elliott and I did some exploring of our own.
Elliott was a little obsessed with going down to the pond and trying to catch crayfish.  We spent everyday William was at camp down by the pond.
He loved finding the perfect stick and waiting patiently trying to get the crayfish to grab on.
We got really good at spotting the crayfish in the murky pond.  After 4 days, we only caught two, but it was so much fun and a great way to spend the summer with my little buddy.
In the afternoons we would get visits from a pair of dragonflies.  They loved to fly back and forth across the pond.  If you look closely at the picture, one of them has landed on Elliott's stick, and though he thought they were pretty great at first, in the picture you can see him trying to blow the dragonfly off the stick.  He named his dragonflies "Howard".
We loved to hunt for lizards, and were almost always able to find one hiding under a rock somewhere.
We even had some fun in the butterfly house.
It was such a great week with my little guy!  He is such a good adventure buddy!
