Peter has changed so much in the last month, it is hard to believe he is the same little guy. We are really starting to get a good look at his personality. Peter is very serious, determined, and stubborn. He loves going outside and being out in general, and seems to enjoy being around people. He points at everything that he wants, and still gets into all sorts of mischief opening drawers and cupboards. He absolutely loves playing with his big brothers, and will always try to be where they are, doing what they are doing. He is going to be so sad when they go back to school tomorrow after their long spring break at home.
Peter has said his first few words this month, which are now coming quickly. He has said "hi" (with a cute little wave), "ball", "throw", "outside", "dada", "mama" and "up". He just recently took his very first steps when Mommy helped him stand and then scooted back a bit. He managed about 3 little steps before he fell into Mommy's arms. He still prefers to crawl, or push his bumblebee everywhere.
Peter loves fruit, especially blueberries and strawberries, but will eat oranges, watermelon and applesauce ravenously as well. He is usually a very good eater, but has gotten a little more picky over the last couple of weeks and enjoys throwing his food over the side of his high chair rather than eating it. He loves to play in the sand and water table outside, or watch the birds, but if his brothers have gone outside without him he will stand at the glass door and bang and yell until someone lets him go play too.
Peter is very interested in other babies. He loves books with babies in them, or if he sees a baby out in the world he gets very excited and points and wants to go over to see them. He also likes animals, especially puppies.
We decided to take him to the farm on his birthday to see all the farm animals, especially the baby animals that had been born this spring. We were sure he would be entranced and love it, so it was quite a surprise when he saw the sheep and his little lips curled and he started crying. It seems like the sheep and the cows were much too big and noisy for him. He loved the little pigs, chickens, and bunnies, and even seemed to do fine with the goats, but every time he heard a load "baaa" from the sheep he would jump. He seemed to recover when we got to the strawberry fields and he saw all of those yummy strawberries growing on the ground. He desperately wanted to crawl over and start pulling all of the strawberries off the plants and gobble them up.

Peter had a lovely birthday party with his cousins, the Mortensens and some of the Tufts, as well as Nana and Papa and Ahma.
He was so happy to have all of those cousins running around to play with, and could not get enough of his balloons.
He did not disappoint when it came time for cake either, and dove into his cupcake and thoroughly covered himself with it.
It was such a fun night, and such a great way to celebrate our little Peter turning one!
We are grateful everyday for the joy Peter is to our family, and we can't wait to see what next year brings for him!
