Vaccines

After over a year of the pandemic, and the miracles of modern medicine developing several vaccines to combat the virus, it was finally our turn to get the shot.  First, elderly and front line workers were given the vaccine, and then on April 15th it was open to the rest of us.  Mark and I stayed up late on the 14th to sign-up as soon as shots became available, but even then appointments were hard to come by and were gone before we finished signing up.  The only place we could get in was in Long Beach at the Long Beach Convention Center.  So, on the 16th we headed down for our first of two shots.

                                            

This was us in line before we even got to the entrance, and all of those cars were also in line.  

It was quite a wait, 4 hours from the time we left home until the time we got back, but we were grateful to be able to get a vaccine. 

 The whole process was very well organized, and we were grateful for all the hard work that got us to this point.

Here we are entering the last part of the line to the underground parking where we pulled up to a station for our vaccine.  We didn't have many side-effects after the first shot-just very sore arms, and 3 weeks later returned to do it over again for our second vaccine.  We knew the second shot caused more dramatic side effects, but we were fortunate that fevers, tiredness and nausea was all we had to suffer through for about 24 hours.  What a blessing to be able to slowly get back to normal.
