The boys have been doing a lot of reading this summer.
We made a few little "book nooks" for the kids with their benches by the windows, with pillows, blankets, and lots of books in their buckets. They have spent a lot of time sitting in these spots and reading (though for Elliott, it is looking at the pictures).
One week this summer we had a "bug week". The kids went hunting for toy bugs in their sand box,
made bug pudding with chocolate pudding, cookie crumbles, and gummy worms,
and hunted for bugs with their magnifying glasses.
The caterpillars must have known it was bug week at our house, and graciously made an appearance and ate all of our lettuce in 2 days flat.
At least they made for good observing even if we won't have any homegrown lettuce.
