We have all been so excited for Peter's 3rd birthday. Peter has so much energy and excitement and we all just adore watching him be surprised and happy. Peter adores animals, mostly off the farm or safari type, and even more particularly cows, horses, elephants and rhinos. He knew for his birthday he wanted a green elephant shirt, and animal pajamas. It took months to find the t-shirt and the right fabric for his pajamas, but it was all worth it to see how excited he was to wear them on his birthday.
He woke up on his birthday and ran to his brothers rooms and said "Wake up, wake up! It's my birthday!". Only Elliott made it down for the present opening-William is the opposite of a morning person in every way.
Peter had been waiting and waiting (not patiently) to finally get to open his pop-up animal card for his birthday and loved that it had all of his favorites in there.
Then there were presents of his own wand with a green stone (so he can do spells like Elliott), a horse on a stick from Nana and Papa that makes neighing and galloping noises if you press it's ear,
a farm set, like his zoo one from Grandpa and Debbie, and a green helmet, and shoes (his favorite color) from Mommy and Daddy, along with many other presents.
On the day of his birthday Peter wanted to go visit his beloved cows at the farm. We first stopped by to say "hi" to the sheep,
and see his darling cute baby that had just been born.
But the cows were the real reason we were there, and Peter spent a long time visiting each one several times, watching them, and trying to feed them.
Then it was time to go home for dinner, and the chocolate cake with green frosting and elephants that he has been talking about for months.
It didn't disappoint, and he gobbled it up!
We were grateful to have Ahma and Egan join us for what was a very happy birthday for Peter.
Peter at 3:
Peter is intense. He is loud and forceful and demanding in all areas of his life, but is still sweet and kind and gentle at times too. He has strong opinions especially in regards to what animal he is on a particular day and gets very frustrated if people get it wrong. This also applies to songs, or anything else he focuses on. He will get very upset if you don't get it right. He loves books, and being read to. So much so that we recently had to get him an iPod and load it with stories so that we could have someone else take over the reading for a bit. He is very musical and loves listening to or singing songs. He even started taking little lessons with the boys music teacher on his very own violin.
He is a great eater, and especially loves fruit- mainly watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. He loves to talk, and almost doesn't stop all day. Though sometimes only his family can understand him. He is shy with other people, but rules the roost at home. He is still an awful sleeper, waking up 3-4 times a night mad as can be. We think this just has to do with his intensity, but we are working on trying to get him to stay in his room during the night more often. His favorite books change often, but they all seem to have some cute animal that he instantly declares "I am that one. A baby ..." and then he will curl up and pretend to be a cute baby animal. He loves to watch the show "Wild Kratts" when he gets the chance which is all about animals and learning about and rescuing them, and has recently watched and fallen in love with "The Lion King". He is such a joy to have in our family and we are so grateful to watch him grow and love him to bits!
