After 18 months the boys were finally able to go back to school in person. It was bittersweet. I have loved having the boys at home, and helping them with their learning, and watching them grow, but I know how important it is for them to be with other children and peers. There is a kind of learning that can only be done outside the home, and I am so glad they have wonderful schools to go back to that are doing their very best to keep the kids safe and healthy.
It is a big year of new things for the boys. Peter is starting his first year of kindergarten. He is so fortunate to be at Vista Verde with the wonderful Mrs. Larson-who was also Elliott's kindergarten teacher.
Elliott will be starting 6th grade-an official middle schooler- at Vista Verde. He is excited to get to see his friends again, but not so excited about the longer days.
William will be a high-schooler. It is hard to believe that he is growing up so quickly. It will be lots of new experiences with seminary, sports try-outs, grades that really matter, dances, and so many new experiences. William is excited about taking a computer programming class, and chose to pick up the violin again to participate in orchestra.
It was a big day sending these three off to school, and the first time in a year-and-a-half that I had no kiddos with me. It was short lived, between all of my various pick-up and drop-off times I have about 2 hours alone, but it was just perfect and so wonderful to see this cute kid running out after his first day of kindergarten.

A little about the boys:
Peter (5)
Loves pizza, spaghetti and snow cones
Says Mommy and Elliott are his best friends
Loves to play with Elliott
Likes playing Legos, listening to the first Harry Potter on his iPod, coloring
Favorite color is green
Favorite clothes-just running around the house in his underwear
Second favorite clothes (if he has to wear them) his green UV shirt and black knit pants
Loves snuggling with Mommy
Can be intense
Likes coloring but hates going out of the lines, or if it doesn't end up the way he wanted
Doesn't like bugs, nightmares, or night terrors-every night includes in his prayers to not have night terrors
Does not know how to whisper
Likes being around people, and loves to talk, does NOT like to play at home by himself
Likes Star Wars, being read to, and Harry Potter
Sill says some cute words like aminals-animals, minja-ninja, chest-chess
Is very excited about the treasure chest at kindergarten
Elliott (11):
LOVES books
Favorite activities are reading, listening to audio books, playing Legos
Doesn't like eating-except maybe potato chips and snow cones
Hates any food with melted cheese
Favorite colors are silver and white
Likes platypus, foxes and sloths
HATES being hot-like REALLY hates it
Loves being cozy and wrapped up, then gets really frustrated when he gets hot
Has a love/hate relationship with his hair
Likes jeans and his UV shirts and wears them pretty much every day
Always has an airpod in listening to a story
The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Tolkien books are his favorites
If he has to eat, his favorites are CPK noodles, fudge, In and Out meat patties and fries, water with a splash of lemonade, powdered donuts
Enjoys watching Star Wars movies
Art is his favorite class, swimming is his favorite sport
Is SUPER kind and patient and loving.
Is very responsible and mature for his age.
Gives great hugs
William (14):
Is a typical teenager
Doesn't like talking to us
Always wants to be on the computer
Thinks chocolate milk and Cheetos is a complete meal
Pizza Friday is his favorite day of the week
Still plays tennis once a week
Wants to work with computers when he is older
When not on the computer...likes to read books, play Legos in his room, listen to music or audiobooks, or play on the Xbox
Favorite foods, besides Cheetos and chocolate milk, include: cookies, homemade ice cream, pizza, cookie bars and peanut butter bars
Started seminary
Is now the second tallest in the family
