We thought of what gift we could give to Jesus on the eve of his birth. Tonight we wrote down something that we could do in the next year to better ourselves as our gift to Jesus. It was supposed to go into a white stocking that Mommy sewed especially for our activity tonight, but it was such a neat little stocking that it was played with often and couldn't be found when we needed it. So instead we used a white bag this year.
Then the boys got to open their gifts. Each one got a special book that told the story of Christmas. It was a beautiful pop-up book by Tomie de Paulo. It was one that we read last year and fell in love with, so I tried to find a copy for the boys for Christmas this year to give as the gift from Nana and Papa. Unfortunately, it has been out of print for about 20 years. It didn't stop me though, and I was able to find one online. Then, my mom was in a used book store and found another one in perfect condition. Now each of the boys can have their own to use every Christmas. They also each got a quilt that Mommy made for them to keep them warm and snug this winter.
It was a lovely night, and I was so proud of William and how much he learned about the Christmas story this year. It has been a really wonderful time for us to spend learning about the Christmas story, and focusing on the true meaning of Christmas.
We ended the evening getting ready for Santa and leaving out our cookies, carrots and milk.
We hope you all have a very merry Christmas!!!
