The 4th of July started bright and early. William and Mommy were both running races. Mommy's 10k started first, and then William ran a 1 mile Kids Run.
Here William is at the starting line
William and Mommy had practiced William's run a couple days earlier so he knew where to go. He seemed a little nervous at first, but soon he was ready to go.
Off they went around the lake.
Here he comes in to the finish line. It was fun to watch him come in to the finish line, but as soon as he crossed we lost sight of him. We had to have the announcer call him over the loud speaker, but soon enough we saw him.
We all made it!
After getting cleaned up we all had a nice time watching Swiss Family Robinson, and had a yummy BBQ while we were waiting for the fireworks.
We were able to have William's friend Lia, and her dad Mark, join us for the fireworks. We forgot the camera at home, so this is really about as good as it gets for the pictures we captured on the phone. It was Lia's first time seeing fireworks, and we loved being able to share that with her.
The kids loved playing with their glow sticks, and "pop pop snappers", while we sat by the lake waiting for the fireworks to start.
The boys may have had more fun with their glow sticks than the actual fireworks, and needed to be reminded if they didn't watch the fireworks they would miss them. Then we had a long walk home, and right off to bed. What a busy, fun day!
