Last night was the big Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. The boys have been working on their cars for the last couple of weekends, and Daddy has been thinking and planning even longer.
The Wolves were the first group to race, and William was one of the first (of about 40) race cars.
The boys would sit at the end of the track and watch their cars anxiously when it was their turn to race.
Even Elliott built a car, and was so excited to be a part of the sibling races.
Both the boys cars did amazingly well. Elliott won the overall in the sibling races, and William's car won for the Wolves.
The last race was against the winners in each pack. The Wolf winner, the Bear winner and the Webelo winner. So William put his car up against the other big boys.
Here is the home stretch of the final race. William's is the green car on the left of the track. And he won!!!
Here he is getting his congratulatory high five,
and his first place certificate.
Afterwards there were refreshments in the shape of cars,
which the boys gobbled up.
William with his car and certificate (we pick up his trophy today),
and Elliott with his medal and his winning car.
What a fun night, and how grateful we are for such a smart daddy to help make such great cars!
